#ChiefDaddy Movie – 10 Important Lessons.

Spread the love

Watching the Ebony life movie “Chief Daddy” was a joy to me, not particularly because it had a great story line or great actors or the usual opulence characteristic of Nigerian movies, but because right from the opening scenes an important message was passed.

Chief Daddy spoiler alert

Essentially this is how the scene I’m interested in ran: Chief Daddy a distinguished Nigerian Multi billionaire is at his breakfast table making one or two calls; a kingly spread is laid on the table before him consisting of mouth dripping fries and oils amongst other delicacies.

His house manager (Patience Ozokwor) and chauffeur (Nkem Owoh) get into a disagreement and decide to go to Chief Daddy to settle it. They meet him at the table and go on and on with their complaints, not noticing there’s no response from him. When they finally do, all hell is raised. This is where the story becomes funny. In a state of total chaos, shock and panic the two bumbling domestic staff do the following:

  • lift Chief Daddy off his chair and put him on the ground
  • Nkem Owoh begins his own version of cardiopulmonary resuscitation with his hands at both sides of the chest. He however remembered to count his compressions.
  • He calls on Patience Ozokwor to get a first aid box
  • She gets it, but unfortunately it is locked. She fiddles with her bunch of keys and is eventually able to open it, problem is they don’t know what they should be looking for.
  • They flip through the contents discarding several and then pick a surgical scissors.
  • Nkem finally remembers it is an oxygen mask they should be searching for.
  • Patience Ozokwor asks him how an oxygen mask is supposed to be in a first aid box.
  • They finally decide to call his doctor. Both of them don’t have credit.
  • They pick chief daddy’s phone and call the doctor. He instructs them not to move the body (which they’ve already done)>
  • The doctor comes in and certifies the body dead

Chief Daddy: Many Health Lessons

  1. You have not arrived as a big man in Nigeria if you don’t have a pot belly, look overweight and 10 years older than your age
  2. The average Nigerian does not watch his diet despite having all the health risk behaviours: sedentary life style, overweight/obesity etc
  3. Heart attacks and cardiac arrest can happen suddenly; everybody needs to know how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Not only yourself but all your domestic staff, drivers, cooks, gatemen, you don’t know who will be available the time it happens
  4. Cardiopulmonary resuscitation should be done on a hard and flat surface; it requires 30 chest compressions to 2 breaths
  5. All homes should have First Aid boxes
  6. First aid boxes should be kept in easy to reach locations but away from young children.
  7. A knowledge of how to use the materials contained in a First Aid box is also necessary
  8. Emergency numbers should be at your fingertips, saved or boldly written out for times it will be needed
  9. You should register your family at a nearby health facility
  10. You should have a will
