How deadly is Hepatitis B infection?

Last time we started talking about #Hepatitis B infection.  Why is it a potentially deadly infection? This is because it is easy to acquire and can lead to fatal consequences like liver damage, failure and cancer.

Hep B infection can be transmitted through sex and exchange of body fluid like saliva, blood, vaginal secretions and semen, you can get it  through blood transfusion, sharing needles or even a human bite!

Did you know that human bites could be very deadly? Yes you can get Hepatitis B and other infections from a human bite.

Symptoms of Hepatitis B infection

What are some symptoms one will notice if he or she has hepatitis B infection?

For one, a person might not notice any symptom. A lot of people only find out they are positive when they take the test probably when starting a job or at a general health screening program. For people who have the symptoms it may take up to 6 months after exposure to the virus before they show any signs.

Common ways Hepatitis B infection shows  include #jaundice which is yellowing of the eyes, nausea, vomiting, body pains / weakness.

It is also possible for complications to set in. Do you suspect you may have Hepatitis?  Go for a test.

Testing for Hepatitis B infection

Go to a laboratory or hospital.  You need Just a little drop of blood. You may do more complex tests to support the diagnosis and for monitoring purposes.  A #liver function test is also needed to see if the liver has been affected in any way.
